When are we Going?

February 9th-13th, 2018

*We will leave out of the airport in Charleston early on February 9th and arrive in Port Au Prince, Haiti that same day. We will return to Charleston late on February 13th. We have scheduled this trip this way to allow it to be through the weekend for those concerned about missing work. We are waiting to book flights until we have the complete number of people attending. I will provide you with Flight itinerary when available.

Where are we going?

While in Haiti, we will be spending the majority of our time at the Haiti Christian Orphanage. Haiti Christian Orphanage is located in Pétion-ville, Haiti along the foothills of the beautiful Kenscoff Mountains.

Where will we be staying?

While in Haiti, we will be staying in the Best Western Premier Hotel in Petionville, Haiti. This hotel has received 5 stars on Trip Advisor and has wonderful accommodations including a pool, TV, Internet, a Restaurant, hot showers, a spa and massage parlor on site. We stayed here in August and it was wonderful.

What will we be doing?

We will be doing many things while in Haiti. We will be able, at some point, to go to the market and buy food for the orphanage. Last time we were there, we bought 600 dollars worth of food and that fed the orphanage for one month. While there, we will also be doing backyard Bible clubs, where we will invite children from the area to come to the orphanage for a Vacation Bible School type meeting. We will spend time with the children, the orphanage staff, and Jasper (the owner of the Orphanage) and catch their vision for this wonderful place. The main goal of this trip is to foster a relationship with the orphanage so as to help in a long-term type way.   We will attend church and worship with the Haitians on the Sunday we will be there. We are also inquiring into a possible building project that can easily be completed in the 3 full days we will be on the ground in Haiti. A detailed itinerary will be provided closer to trip.  Remember: With any mission trip, the key to success is to be flexible! Be ready to do anything to help for the cause of Christ in Haiti.

Why are we going?

The reason we are traveling to Haiti is because our Lord Jesus, who rescued us from our sin and the consequences of those sins, has commanded us to go to the world and we desire to be obedient to advance His kingdom and to glorify Him in all things.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19

How much?

The price of the trip will be around 1300 dollars. This will include all food lodging and airfare. This number may change, but this will give you an idea of how much you will need to raise for support. All people going on the trip will be responsible for raising their own support for this trip. We will be doing a fundraiser to help offset the cost of the trip. In order to receive these funds, which will be equally divided between team members, you will have to be present and help with the fundraisers. A good way to raise money is to send out letters to people you know asking for support. I have been on 6 mission trips, and God has provided me with the necessary funds to go every time.

What do I need now?

If you do not have a current passport, you need to get it ASAP!!!!! This trip is only a few months away and it tradionally takes 6 weeks to get your passport once the paperwork has been submitted. If you are planning to go on the trip, you will have to have a passport to exit the country and to return. As far as other needs, I will provide you with a checklist closer to trip time.
